Great little promotional video for Hutchinson Tires that I first saw at the bicycle film fest.
From the director:
Directed by Daniel Leeb of Cinecycle Productions.
This short film features Alfred Bobe Jr. and Fatimah Durkee. The film spins a visual ballad between the two cyclists experiencing the city in their own unique ways. Both cyclists are city dwellers who amidst the chaos of the concrete jungle have created a private and peaceful psychological space as they traverse the streets. They are both alone and yet they are both very much aware of each others presence. The film speaks to the harmony with one’s environment that can be found while riding a bicycle in a city and the synchronistic connection we can have with those we have not even met. The short was commissioned by Hutchinson tires
I have been digging the Rinse FM dubstep podcasts for a while now and don’t usually post about them, but this mix by Karnage is really off the chains and worth taking a listen to before you head out to the weekend parties. (If you ignore all the annoying radio voiceovers.)
For those of you who don’t know the Proper Villains have been around a long time making awesome Drum and Bass tracks under the same name and some other aliases. You might know them best as a drum and bass outlet doing sick sick original and remixed tracks that would play out at Direct Drive parties ever week.
As DnB has involved into a new sound so has Proper Villians, within you can find an eclectic mix of electro, house, mashup, hip hop and classic rave creating an awesome new sound that this blog just can’t get over.
The folks over at one of my favorite blogs Palms Out are hosting this awesome mix.
Nice classic HipHop and Rap. Throwback to my HS youth. This mix has Dr. Dre, Pharcyde, NWA, Easy-E all of that west coast rap that came out during the height of the media hyped East Coast vs. West Coast battle. Hot stuff.
J Martinez takes some of my favorite photo’s. He really is a truly gifted photographer. Here he puts together a bunch of those awesome shots taken with his 40D with a nice short 24mm lens. Music is Kanye West.
Great interview with Kingdom from Trash Menagerie. Click the link for the full interview and some awesome track.
TM Exclusive – Kingdom Interview: “For those readers who don’t know as much about the work you do, could you share a brief ‘coming-of-age’ about your life as a DJ? How did you come to New York, and what has your work involved up until now?
I moved to NYC when I was 18 to study at Parsons School of Design, and I’ve also remained very connected to Massachusetts, where I grew up. I wasn’t DJing while I was in school, but I was in a rave performance troupe / band with my friends from MA called Memoreis Forever. We did summer tours in 2003 and 2004. I made the beats and did production for the group, and we had a song called Kingdom actually, thats how I got the name when I started working solo. Then around 2006 I did my first party which was a Hip Hop party called Not Straigh Outta Compton. My friends and I threw it in this tiny club behind a liquor store on Graham Ave. in Williamsburg. That technically wasn’t a DJ gig though because we all wanted to be on the floor the whole night, so we would make mix CDs and just let them play. It was the funnest party I’ve ever been to. It’s amazing how much fun it is to be at a party with no DJ to focus on, just dancing. My first real DJ gig was in 2007 when Telfar invited me to play at his party Something Tight (first Thursdays at Happy Ending), that’s where I learned to DJ and I still do that party with him now.”
